Weight Loss For Izzy Fundraising Challenge ~ Day 1

Ok. So this morning I was fretting because I have been juicing for almost a month and although I feel great and have made vast improvements in my health, the scale just won't budge. So I complained a little and searched for reasons that could be causing it and trying to wrack my brain as to what I could do differently in order to see results. I drank some watermelon juice and decided to go for a walk/jog since I do not have any massage clients yet. I found an application on my Ipod Touch that will track my miles, calories, time, post on facebook, and play music for my exercise route. Great start and felt awesome. I went 2.26 miles in 45 minutes and burned 231 calories! What I did not expect and was pleasantly surprised is that my headaches are almost non existent now. Since juicing, I have been able to go outside in the sun and jog without immediately getting a pounding, overheated, migraine headache! AMAZING......

Ok...so while I was out there I was thinking about how great I feel and how I should focus on this instead of the scale. Negativity just breeds more negativity and I want more positivity in my life....and then it HIT ME!

I will dedicate my weight loss journey to Isabella Dean (a.k.a Izzy). Izzy is a beautiful (almost 2) year old little baby girl (my friend's daughter) who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia about 20 days ago. She has been fighting this like a champ and is truly inspirational to all that are blessed with knowing her. I am part of the TEAM IZZY Fundraising team but I want to do more. I am a single mother and do not have a lot of money so it is hard to donate money when I have little of it but I came up with something that I think will be easy to do AND will hopefully inspire others to follow along and raise money for Izzy.

What is this epiphany you ask?

Well............

I am going to track my weight loss on facebook and on this blog. For every pound I lose, I will donate $1 to Izzy to help her fight Leukemia. I want to lose weight and I want to gain better health and what better way to be inspired and motivated than to think of that beautiful little girl while I do it.

So, I am challenging you! Will you join the Weight Loss For Izzy Fundraising Challenge with me? You can do this at your own pace, with a friend, or alone....whatever gets you there. Keep track of your progress like I will be doing and we can encourage each other.

  2. YES!!! AWESOME! Dad said to count him in as well so it will be your job to help motivate him to get moving (walking) because he needs to add exercise to his now healthy diet.

  3. OK so you are donating $1 for every pound you lose.... What about getting people to sponsor you for a $1.00 a pound? I think its great either way and I may also join you in that venture...I got at least 75 pounds more to go lol

  5. I could have someone sponsor me and the idea occurred to me but I thought this was would be more motivating and draw others to follow along with their own weight loss journey. We had planned to do a marathon race for a fundraiser for Izzy but it would take time to plan and won't be until later in the future once we have the means to do it. So I figured this would be a way to organize and "event" without having to organize one. Each person does their journey on their time with the intent on helping Izzy. It's a great motivator for me and one that I believe will help inspire others. :-)

  6. My mom says there's a way to add a sponsor me button so she will show me. I will give that as an option for those who are already thin but may just want to contribute to Izzy
